Drywall Remodeling in Portland, OR

Kitchen, bath, basement and whole-home remodels — old-to-new drywall that blends invisibly.

Remodel drywall lives at the intersection of old and new. The new work has to blend into the existing walls and ceilings so the whole room reads as one — not as a fresh patch next to 30-year-old texture.

What drywall remodeling really involves

Remodels are where texture-matching and Level 5 finish earn their keep. When you take down a wall between the kitchen and living room, the new ceiling patch (and the new wall corner) has to disappear next to the original texture. When you gut a bathroom, the new drywall has to tie into the hallway wall without a visible seam. When you finish a basement, the new drywall has to look like it was always there.

We handle the drywall on kitchen, bath, basement, primary-suite, whole-home, additions and pop-top remodels. Our scope typically starts after demo (yours or your GC's), through framing coordination, hang, tape, finish, texture match and paint. We coordinate closely with the GC and other trades so the drywall doesn't hold up the schedule.

For most great-room remodels (wall removals) we recommend Level 5 finish on any accent-lit or expansive wall. It costs more up front and reads dramatically better under raking light — no visible seams, no telegraphed fastener patterns, no 'new patch' announcement.

Our process

The same repeatable process on every drywall remodeling job — no surprises, no hand-offs.

  1. 01

    Scope walk

Walk-through with you or your GC — old-to-new transitions, texture notes and finish level agreed up front.

  2. 02

    Framing coordination

Any missing framing, blocking or corrections handled before rock.

  3. 03

    Hang

New drywall hung to blend with existing plane — thin coats on top where needed to level with old work.

  4. 04

    Tape and three-coat mud

Paper tape, three coats, sanded to Level 4 — Level 5 in accent-lit areas.

  5. 05

    Texture match

Existing texture matched on scrap first, then blended into new work.

  6. 06

    Prime and paint

Full-wall or full-ceiling paint so no patch is visible after cabinets and trim go in.

  7. 07

    Punch

Walk-through with you before we call it done.

What you get

Frequently asked questions

Do you do drywall on kitchen and bath remodels?

Yes — kitchen and bath drywall is a huge share of our remodel work. We coordinate with the tile setter, plumber, electrician and cabinet installer to keep the schedule tight.

Can you blend new drywall into old texture?

Yes — texture matching is our standard remodel scope. Knockdown, orange peel, hand and smooth all matched on scrap first, then blended into the existing plane.

Do I need Level 5 for my remodel?

Recommended for any accent-lit or expansive wall — great rooms, primary bedroom walls, hallway walls with sconces. Everywhere else Level 4 is standard.

How much does drywall remodeling cost in Portland?

Bath remodels typically add $2,500–$5,500 in drywall scope; kitchen remodels $3,500–$7,500; whole-home remodels vary widely. Free itemized estimate against your plan or scope of work.

Do you work with my GC?

Yes — most of our remodel volume is sub work for Portland-area GCs. We also work direct for homeowners on smaller-scope remodels.

Can you do the drywall while I'm living in the house?

Yes for most single-room remodels, with dust control and clear work-zone boundaries. Whole-home remodels are usually more comfortable if the house is empty for the drywall phase.

How long does a bathroom remodel drywall scope take?

Typical bathroom drywall runs 3–5 working days — demo (if included), rock, three-coat mud with drying time, texture, prime and paint.

Do you handle demo?

Yes for drywall demo. Full remodel demo (cabinets, flooring, plumbing fixtures) is usually the GC or homeowner.
