Interior metal-stud framing is reviewed with the drywall plans for residential projects and select small commercial scopes. Commercial projects must be no larger than 20,000 square feet and no higher than 20 feet; both limits apply, with individual review of scope, location, duration, materials, scheduling, staffing and economics. School and hospital projects are not accepted.
What metal stud framing really involves
Metal stud framing has a lot of small details that make or break the drywall that goes on top. Track has to be shot to slab straight, studs plumbed to layout, cripples cut clean at openings, and door frames anchored so they don't move when the door swings. When any of those steps get sloppy the drywall crew fights the wall for two days and the finish still reads off.
Framing requirements are reviewed alongside the drywall scope. The owner works directly on projects and hires additional help as needed; labor and scheduling are coordinated for the agreed work.
For residential we frame metal-stud walls in bathrooms (rot-proof), basements against foundation walls, and mechanical soffits. Cold-formed steel isn't for load-bearing residential framing — that's a separate structural scope — but for interior partitions it's often the right call.
